On 30 November 2017 the MARISTANIS project organised an international seminar entitled “The Ramsar Convention for wetlands conservation and management”.

The MARISTANIS project is an international cooperation project that aims at defining an integrated management model for the coastal wetlands in the Gulf of Oristano and Sinis Peninsula (Sardinia) as a model for other coastal regions in the Mediterranean. MARISTANIS, co-funded by the MAVA Foundation and coordinated by the MEDSEA Foundation in collaboration with the Marine Protected Area “Sinis Peninsula - Mal di Ventre Island”, is working in parallel with three other projects co-funded by MAVA in Tunisia, Montenegro and Albania (www.maristanis.org; www.facebook.com/maristanis).

The main invited speakers were Tobias Salathé (Senior advisor for Europe for the Ramsar Convention), Jean Jalbert (Scientific director of the Centre Scientifique de la Tour du Valat) and Luis Costa (Programme Manager of MAVA foundation), who illustrated the MAVA strategy for the Mediterranean Basin.

In this event, the HBK team has communicated the CARE-MEDIFLORA project as it has a special focus on conservation actions for plants associated with wetlands.
